Christmas 2011

Christmas this year was spent at my mother's house.  It was a quite Christmas with the family being so far apart, but it was great to Skype with Grandma, Garrett, & Dad.  I was spoiled this year - Bob got me a new SLR digital camera!  He'll be staying warm in a wool blanket I crocheted for him.

 

A 'Faux' Family Christmas was spent with Bob's side of the family as well.  It's so nice to have the family together.

CCHA Champions Reunite - OSU Hockey 1971

My father, Ray Meyers attended a reunion and celebration of his glory days from OSU hockey. Here is an interesting fact: Dad has a mural painted in the arena near the concessions stands. He sits along the greats who came out of OSU such as Archie Griffin, a Heisman Trophy Winner. A really nice article was written paying tribute to the team. August 2011 U.P. Trip with GBM Before Italy, Airforce Departure

We took a trip to the U.P. of Michigan for a week. The reason for the long vacation was to celebrate Garrett's last Hoorah before he is shipped out to Italy to begin his Airforce Service for 2-3 years. Before we started our vacation, we had Garrett here in Chicago with us for a weekend. Garrett then had 2 weeks of recruiting duty to serve in Oshkosh. During one of his weekends there, we visited with my Mother, Grandma Margaret, and Lee.

The beginning of our trip to the U.P. allowed for us to spend time together in Oscar Bay. Our friends, the Aldrich's came to visit with us. We spent our entire day there fishing off the dock.

The second leg of our trip, we visited with mom and dad at the Superior cottage. It was great to see our extended family including Grandma Margaret, Grandpa Jack, Uncle Joe, and Aunt Jodi. We spent our few days there golfing, taking walks on the beach, sitting in the hot tub, going to an art fair, having a campfire (where I caught on fire), doing a puzzle, and Bob went kayaking. The best part of the trip was getting the news that Meg and Dave are engaged and expecting their first baby. CONGRATS MEG AND DAVE!

The last leg of our trip was a blast as well. As you'll see in the pictures below, we went canoeing down the Paint River, Garrett caught a 22 inch Birch, we shot a couple rifles, had campfires, played poker (GBM was the winner), and had a lot of laughs.

Cozumel - Jen's 31st Birthday Gift

Once again, my wonderful husband spoils me for my birthday. Last year he treated me to Puerto Nuervo, Mexico and this year it was Cozumel. Before we left, I had a snorkeling trip planned out for us where we could put-in off the beach and get out at certain points: Beach Clubs for a bite to eat. Here's how our vacation went...wake up, enjoy a breakfast and coffee, lounge in a chair with a book, around noon we would get ourselves a cool 'beverage', a few hours later..."shall we snorkel?"...."nah, we'll go tomorrow". We sure had a good time making no plans with no obligations. Although we didn't snorkel down Cozumel's shoreline, we did snorkel a couple times at the hotel next to ours as they had a nice snorkel area. Our favorite from the vaca? Our own personal hot tub on our patio where we'd relax at night listening to the waves.

Airman First Class - Garrett B. Meyers

On April 22, 2011 my brother graduated Basic Training from the Airforce as Airman First Class. Since then, he has started his MP training (to be completed in August), has been informed of his station...Italy!!!...and as of yesterday he found out that he was awared one of the four Rope positions for his flight. A Rope is a leadership position of the flight. There are about 50 people in his flight....Congrats GBM!

Big Chill, December 2010

For Bob's 31st Birthday, I surprised him by taking him to the first ever, Big Chill hockey game with Michigan against Michigan State. Michigan beat Michigan State 5-1. We had a great tailgate before the game with 6 tents, full bar, TVs and food galore. It was a day to remember.
